Every IT provider says they "do AI" now. That's not the same thing as being ready to guide your business through it safely.
The gap between those two claims is exactly where most AI rollouts go wrong, not in the technology itself, but in the partner chosen to implement it.
"Adding an AI slide to a sales deck is not the same thing as having actually deployed AI safely for a client."
The Buzzword Trap
AI has become a mandatory line item on every IT provider's website, whether or not the underlying team has the depth to back it up. Some providers genuinely have the security, compliance, and integration experience to guide AI adoption well. Others have rebranded existing services with AI language and hoped nobody would ask follow-up questions.
The difference matters more here than in almost any other IT category, because the downside of getting AI adoption wrong, data leakage, compliance violations, customer-facing failures, is genuinely worse than a typical software rollout gone sideways.
What Actually Matters in a Partner
- Ask for a specific AI project they've delivered, with details
- Ask what they'd do differently on that project today
- Be wary of answers that stay entirely abstract
- Ask how they vet a new AI tool's data processing agreement
- Ask how AI tool monitoring fits into your existing security stack
- Listen for whether compliance comes up unprompted
- Pitch them a use case that doesn't actually need AI
- See whether they push back or just go along with it
- Value a partner who scopes down as much as one who scopes up
- Can you describe a specific AI project you've delivered, in detail?
- How do you evaluate a new AI tool's data handling before recommending it?
- How does AI risk fit into the security program you already run for clients?
- Can you tell me about a time AI wasn't the right answer for a client?
- Who on your team actually has hands-on AI implementation experience?
Where Gradius Fits In
We've built our AI practice on top of the same security and compliance foundation that already underlies our managed services, not bolted on as a separate offering. That means AI risk assessments, usage policies, and chatbot or AIaaS implementations all run through the same lens we use for the rest of your IT environment.
We'd also rather tell you AI isn't the right fix for a problem than sell you a project that doesn't actually solve it.
